Citroen DS Inside Official Video

As we reported back in February, Citroen has decided to undergo a company wide rebranding program, which includes the rebirth of the company's acclaimed DS line. This came true in Geneva, when we all had a chance to see the DS Inside Concept, the first step towards the future future DS3 model. Now, for all those who haven't had the chance to do so, the French manufacturer released the first official video, autoblog.it reported.

Still, there are not yet many details to go on. Engine wise, the new DS line is rumored to use the same powerplants as the C3 line, both diesel and gasoline powered units. We yet lack a comprehensive image of the car's interior, as no photo has yet been released and the video doesn't do that much to clarify this issue.

What we can see though is a bulky, modern day vehicle which isn't at all the Déesse we all got to know from the 1950s. The exterior design isn't at all revolutionary, apart from Citroen's trademark headlights. What did caught our eye was the restyled Citroen logo used in the car, which gave up the sharp edge for a more rounded shape.

Citroen has big plans for the new DS line. The company wants to "perfectly illustrate Citroen’s new spirit of Créative Technologie,” as the company said in a statement at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.

The DS Inside seems to be well placed within the guidelines of this statement. What it does not seem to belong to is the spirit of the DS line. Our hope is that the Inside is only the beginning and the company will do more on the versions to follow. After all, the new DS has some big shoes to fill and a rebirth does not only mean the use of the name.
