Citroen DS 21 Pallas Replica Still Makes You Feel Like a President

The original Citroen DS is probably the most notable car France ever made and important people noticed that and transformed it into an icon. Yuri Gagarin, painter Marc Chagall, actors Ken Berry and Jeff Bridges owned one and even president Charles de Gaulle rode in a DS.

Nowadays, you might slip unnoticed in a DS if you drive it in France, but take it anywhere else, suit up and you’ll look like a sophisticated sir traveling the country.

Even better, you could get a convertible model or at least a landaulet, but they are very rare. Luckily there’s a perfect chopped DS on sale now that was built to look exactly like a DS 21 Pallas, with a vinyl retractible roof and all.

The seller says the original car has been stripped down to bare frame, sand blasted, refurbished and it’s basically like new, with only 500 km (310 miles) clocked since restoration.

Around 2,500 hours of work were needed to replace the pistons, clutch set, the water pump, connecting rod bearings, brakes, ignition, hydro-pneumatic components, leather upholstery, carpets and that beautiful candy paint.

So if you have €55,000 ($65,300) laying around, go check the full ad here. And if you’re concerned about the chopped roof, don’t worry, it has been done by professionals and there’s still a reinforcing beam left in between the B-pillars to hold the car together.
