Citroen Concept Teaser Released, IAA Surprise in the Making

French manufacturer Citroen today released a teaser image of a yet unnamed concept it will unveil at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show. Although very close-fisted with the details on the new release, the French are promising "a big surprise."

As it usually happens, rumors surrounding the new car have flooded the web. Citroen says it "hasn't finished surprising you with its creativity..." which, according to a previous image of the new car, might very well be the new C3. Or, more likely, the eco-brand based on the C-Cactus, as announced back in March by a Citroen insider...

Clearly, the purple (!) car is a three door hatchback, boasting oversized wheels (the likes of the ones first seen on the C-Cactus concept). The body, as far as it can be distinguished, features small headlights and a un-Citroenish overall look for the front end.

Despite the fact that it is a small car, the concept looks very aggressive, a stance strongly emphasized by the rear axle, located waaay to the back of the car. The rear wheel arches make the car look (it may very well be) wider at the back than at the front.

With the new DS3 and the 2007 C-Cactus concepts in mind, it is yet difficult where exactly to place the new concept. Yet, not long remains until Tuesday, September 15, the day when Citroen will tell us all about it.

autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
