The Citroen C4L, the sedan version of the European C4 hatchback, was revealed alongside the cheaper C-Elysee, a few months ago. It was primarily destined for the Chinese market, where it has now been seen for the first time, completely uncovered.
We must admit to already liking the bootless C4, and this booted version brings a bit of C5 to the C4, with the slightly concave rear window, muscular flanks and ‘swoopy’ rear lights which go around the corners of the car considerably, giving the impression of a much bigger car. The front also gets a new bumper, as well as a redesigned grille, both of which set it apart form the regular hatchback version.
Engines-wise, the Chinese-built car will get the 1.6-liter petrol engine (with and without turbocharging), as well as a naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter petrol unit - an odd choice, considering the fact that they have recently removed that particular engine from all their European range. Prices will start at around 130,000 Yuan (€16,600) when the car goes on sale in the country, early next year.
