As if the Citroen C4 Cactus wasn't strange enough, with its protective bubble wrap, the Brits can buy an even more unique model, the Rip Curl. As the name and the photos suggest, it's all about surfing and being free from the constraints of the urban lifestyle.
The model will go on sale in the UK starting June 1st. While the design is groovy, the price is not up the alley of every hippie. Starting from £18,480, the tiny crossover will bring you a 1.2-liter turbo engine making 110 horsepower. You can also have it with a 100 hp 1.6-liter diesel, in which case you will be paying £19,210.

A Dacia Duster does the same thing for less. Speaking of which, we've discovered that Renault made a lot of Rip Curl special editions. There was a Modus and a Kangoo, followed by a Twingo (last generation) and finally a Dacia Sandero Stepway Rip Curl dedicated to the South American market.

But we digress; let's find out what Citroen added to the C4 to justify the price tag. The Cactus Rip Curl stands thanks to its unique exterior. There are five body colors to choose from, namely Obsidian Black and Arctic Steel metallics, Pearl White pearlescent, Sport Red and Tapenade Grey. It also features custom black and white graphics on the front fenders and D-pillars. It kind of looks like gull droppings, which is perhaps fitting for this car.

Standard equipment includes 17-inch diamond cut Cross alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear 4 seasons M&S tires, white roof rails, and side mirror casings. Inside, you get orange detailing on the carpet mats, seatbelts, and audio speakers. Some of these press photos show the car parked on the sand, but that's just sand-covered concrete. Even though the C4 Cactus has a dial with several off-road modes, it's still a front-wheel drive car with small tires, a disaster on loose surfaces.
