These five press photos of the new C4 Cactus crossover from Citroen leaked out yesterday, ahead of the car's debut, which it taking place later today. We thought we'd sneak them in before Citroen notices they're mission and talk about the crazy designs these french folks have come up with.
If this is a production car, you have to give it up to Citroen for making it. It's so radical, a VW Tiguan looks like it came from the stone age. The outside is defined by squinting LED headlights and strange rubbery covers that protect the bumper and doors. Citroen calls these "air bumps". Interestingly, the windows on the rear doors cover the pillars, so they might not wind down at all. Too expensive? Why then does this car have paddle shifters?

But it's the interior that's the most interesting. There's no gear stick, since the car has a knob selector. The hand brake is just as strange and looks like it's been pulled from the Peugeot 2008. Instead of a normal speedo, this car has a digital displace, a bit like the old C4 from before 2011 and also like the BMW i3.

We're not sure if this a wonderful idea or a really bad one. We can almost hear the jokes "Citroen makes a car with bathmats stuck to the sides"!

The C4 Cactus will be officially revealed today at the international automobile festival in France, together with a new WTCC car.
