The Opel Adam Rocks looks like it will have at least one stylish competitor, as a batch of Citroen C1 Urban Ride models have been spotted being hauled on a trailer recently.
Realizing the A-segment runabout’s profit margins are tight and won’t get sold in over 100,000 units per year, Citroen decided to spice things up a bit with a new iteration going by the Urban Ride model.
This is basically the same C1 but with a 15mm (0.6 inch) jacked up suspension and plastic moldings on the sides and bumpers, two things that will let urban drivers roam around without fearing taller curbs or dings in the bodywork.
The C1 Urban Ride is said to be available in both 3- and 5-door configurations, one of them already being confirmed by the adjacent photo snapped by one of the World Scoop forum users.
Although the cars on the trailer have a white patch on their tops, it looks like the retractable cloth roof is missing, hinting that it could be offered as an optional feature on the already more expensive C1 iteration.
Engine wise, the most powerful unit you’ll probably get on the C1 Urban Ride is the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder VTI making 82 HP. A bit down on power comparing it to the 1-liter turbo on the Adam Rocks that cranks 115 HP.
We’re really curious if the Toyota Aygo and the Peugeot 108 will follow the trends and get the “plastic” surgery.
