Now, that percentage grew a bit higher as Chrysler decided to embrace a bit more of the technology which will help it collaborate, plan, design and validate the development and manufacturing engineering of vehicles.
Chrysler currently uses parts of the PLM software, named Teamcenter software - a set of digital lifecycle management solutions. In the near future, the American carmaker will add the NX software which will help it in its product development.
NX integrates CAD, CAE and CAM solutions and comprises a wide range of tools for shape creation, manipulation and analysis. It covers all areas of automotive and non-automotive design, including mechanical, electromechanical and even tooling and fixture.
“Integration of this tool will help to enhance our ability to collectively engineer new products with improved quality and faster time to market,” Scott Kunselman, Chrysler Engineering vice president said in a statement.
“Chrysler’s decision to replace existing solutions with NX and Teamcenter as its corporate-wide standard is a testament to our commitment to provide a robust, open PLM platform for the automotive industry,” added Tony Affuso, Siemens PLM Software CEO.
