Over 240,000 Chrysler Group LLC built vehicles assembled between 2007 and 2012, including Jeep and Dodge SUVs, are being recalled for several issues.
Chrysler’s new recall campaign started yesterday with 78,500 2007-2008 built Jeep Liberty and Dodge Nitro SUVs, which need to be checked for a shield in the driveshaft tunnel that can come lose. Also, approximately 30,000 Jeep Patriot and Compass models from 2012 were recalled, concerning an engine stall due to a potential fuel-tank transfer tube failure.
Furthermore, about 130,000 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger vehicles assembled between April 11, 2011 and December 14, 2011 will have to check with their dealers to get their driver and passenger-side aribag wiring harnesses replaced to prevent improper warning-light illumination.
Finally, Chrysler has issued a recall for 52 model-year 2013 Dodge Dart models built in November 2012 as well. The company needs “to correct an issue that may compromise parking brake function” by replacing brake calipers that do not meet factory specification.
All told, the total recall amounts to approximatively 246,000 vehicles, of which about 200,900 are located in the US, 10,300 are in Canada, 14,600 were sold in Mexico and 20,700 reached beyond the NAFTA region.
