According to a recent post on the automaker’s blog, Chrysler Canada is the only major carmaker to increase its sales last month. This marks the 15th consecutive month of year-on-year sales increase, thanks to increased demand for vehicles like the rugged Ram Trunk and the versatile Grand Caravan.
Fuelled by the demand for the Ram Truck, Dodge Grand Caravan and Dodge Journey, Chrysler reported an eight percent increase in new vehicle sales last month compared to the same period last year.
Specifically, Chrysler Canada sold 15,238 new vehicles last month. The Dodge Journey also did well, as demand increased 64 percent over the previous record, while the Ram pickup truck saw a 27 percent increase in sales. Sales of Dodge’s minivan offering, the 2011 Grand Caravan, also grew by 14 percent last month compared to the previous record.
During the first two months of 2011, the Grand Caravan is the second most popular new vehicle in Canada, followed by the Ram Truck that came 3rd, while the Journey came 8th.
"With Canada's newest showroom, we also have one of Canada's most fuel-efficient lineups, which helped to propel our sales in February," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, Chrysler Canada Inc. "Furthermore, at 55 m.p.g., our first highly-anticipated Fiat 500s have started to arrive in Canada and given where we are with fuel prices, the timing couldn't be better."
Following the success of the innovative Super Bowl ad, the new 2011 Chrysler 200 sedan was the center of attention in February for the Chrysler brand, the carmaker said.
