Christian Von Koenigsegg Explains How a Regera Handles 1,500 HP with No Gearbox

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page comes to offer a brilliant answer to that question. Your professor for the day is none other than Christian Von Koenigsegg, with one our favorite Swedes explaining the way in which the 1,500 hp Regera works without having a gearbox, at least not in the traditional sense.

We'll remind you that Angelholm's hybrid packs a twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8, like any K machine out there, mixing this with three electric motors. With the overall output of the system sitting at 1,500 hp and 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm), the piece dissected here has to put all the muscle to good use. All in a world that, for instance, will probably see Koenigsegg returning to the Nurburgring in order to attempt a new lap record next year.

Since many of you will want to know how these wonderful facts come together to provide the kind of monumental thrust the Agera can deliver, we'll remind you that the carmaker dropped a video detailing the warp speed experience provided by the gas-electric machine back in January.

Meanwhile, the Regera has had its public driving debut, so it shouldn't take too long before an example of the $2 million beast, which can get from 0 to 248 mph in about 20 seconds, ends up at your local Cars and Coffee event.
