Chris Harris Says Top Gear Is a Suicide Job in 2015 Interview

According to the BBC, Chris Harris is officially one of the next presenters of Top Gear, along with Chris Evans, Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan, Matt LeBlanc, Rory Reid, and The Stig. However, when Car Throttle asked him about the rumors back in 2015, he described the most famous car show as "career suicide."

At the time, Harris said he hadn't been offered a Top Gear job, and he wouldn't take it anyway. In his own words, "I think you'd have to be paid a lot of money in the first year because I'm not sure you'd be employable in the second and third years. I think it's a poisoned challenge. I wouldn't follow those boys."

The famous YouTube car reviewer is right. Top Gear is almost synonymous with Jeremy, James, and Richard. They were not perfect, but Clarkson had been doing his job for so long that people began taking him for granted. Having fun with the most expensive cars in the world is not as easy as it sounds.

Obviously, Harris had a complete change of heart. Either Top Gear actually did pay him a large sum of money to sign the contract or the team behind the show convinced him replacing the former presenters was possible.

Obviously, the fact that Matt LeBlanc has signed up with TG is a bigger deal for some people. He is a renowned television star that can easily cope with the pressure of having a global audience. But we've always been rooting for Harris to join the team.

Back in March of 2015, I wrote a story suggesting his enthusiasm for cars and the way in which he conveys his passion are ideal for car video reviews. Although we would never have suspected he would join Top Gear, Rory Reid is somebody we also follow. He's the 36-year-old former Editor-in-Chief of the car and gadget site Recombu. As for Sabine, her Nurburgring driving skills are already legendary.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
