Chris Harris Drifts Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR, Makes It Look Easy

The Nurburgring might be closed for the winter, as it happens every year, but its tales stay with us through the cold season. And we now want to focus on the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR, the car that now holds the road-legal vehicle lap record on the Green Hell. You see, the thing might have been tweaked to blitz the infamous German track as quickly as possible, but it's also rather good at drifting, as Chris Harris recently proved.

The British journo is currently visiting another track, in the effort to film a few stunts for Top Gear. And one of the toys that he gets to use is the 2RS modded by Manthey Racing.

Portimao is the circuit we're talking about and, thanks to the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, we can see CH sliding the hell out of the rear-engined toy on the Portuguese motorsport heaven.

If we look past the brilliant slip angle skills of the aficionado, there are also other factors that helped him deliver the smoke grenade-style drift we have here. And we're mainly referring to the uphill configuration of the bend and the hefty torque of the twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six, which sits at 750 Nm (550 lb-ft).

We'll remind you that the 2RS MR managed to shave a full seven seconds off the "standard" car's Nordschleife's chronograph number, completing the task in 6:40.3.

The mods include an aero package, a coilover suspension, magnesium wheels, brake pads, brake lines and an additional water tank.

The record run came from Lars Kern, the same driver who had set the factory GT2 RS production car record before the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ grabbed the accolade.

And here's what the steering wheel hero had to say about the MR: "That was a lot of fun. Even with the parts package, the balance of the car is extremely good, so I did not have to take a lot of risks to be fast. I only had one try that day due to the falling darkness. It worked out right away, "

There's quite a bit of room in the garage that is this aficionado's heart, so factory-condition classics and widebody contraptions with turbos poking through the hood can peacefully coexist.
