It’s been 27 years since the Swiss-based luxury timepiece maker has become the official sponsor of the renown classic and vintage cars event. The premium auto event went on this May and like always was a great occasion for enthusiasts to admire some of the most historic vehicles ever created. The exciting weekend also was an excellent opportunity for the watch manufacturer to unveil a new limited edition collection.
Chopard has been creating an annual special edition watch reserved exclusively for the race’s participants from 1988 until its commercialization, nine years later. From then on, limited edition collections were available to the public. The company claims the 2015 edition keeps the tradition alive in stunning fashion, using the same style and materials that made it famous worldwide.

With a case crafted from robust stainless steel and calfskin strap, the timepiece features a Rossa Corsa dial, Italy’s traditional color in the world of motor racing. Equipped with a date aperture integrated into the Mille Miglia arrow at 3 o`clock and a power reserve indicator at 9 o`clock, the dial’s silver-finish black hands allow for maximum readability.

The 2015 Mille Miglia Race Edition Timepiece is driven by the mechanical self-winding Chopard Calibre 01.08-C. The chronometer is certified by the COSC and boasts a stop seconds function for precise adjustments. The 43 mm case is available in both 18-carat gold or steel, and it’s topped by a bezel with a black aluminum graduated insert.

The screw-down back guaranteeing water resistance up to 100 meters (328 ft) is engraved with the inscriptions “Mille Miglia” and “Brescia>Rome>Brescia”. It also was fitted with a transparent sapphire crystal panel revealing the Chopard movement and its openwork oscillating weight. The new timepiece was launched as a limited edition of 1,000 watches in steel and 100 in rose gold.
