Chinese Qoros Sedan to Debut at 2013 Geneva Motor Show

Qoros Auto Co has announced it will be displaying its first product at next year’s Geneva Motor Show, which is in March. The model will be a compact sedan and will be launched in Europe and China at the same time, followed a year later by a hatchback and SUV version.

The Qoros sedan should enter production around the very end of the year and will be imported from China.

The sedan will be powered by a 1.6-liter turbo engine borrowed from Chery and coupled to either a six-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT.

Qoros says its import will “combine German design quality and craftsmanship with Japanese convenience and functionality.” At least that’s what former Volkswagen AG executive Volker Steinwascher says.

Qoros Auto is co-owned by Chery and Israel Corporation. The name of the company is invented, with the ‘q’ standing for quality and the other part being a Greek word for collective voice in plays, which is supposed be a symbol for the company’s multi-nationality.
