Supercar replicas are big, and mostly very controversial news. But while a company trying to replicate the Aventador si bad news for Lamborghini, when a Chinese man gets his hammers out and makes a replica like this, it’s mostly flattery for an iconic model.
With only 21 built (1 for Museum display) and sporting a pricetag of about two million dollars (over €1.5 million), the Lamborghini Reventon is a true automotive legend. It’s not as modern as you might think, being based on the bones of the old V12 supercar, the Murcielago, but it’s still the fastest car they made, having been recorded at 356 km/h (221.2 mph) in Dubai.
With numbers like that, it’s no surprise that the Reventon captured the imagination of one 28 year old mechanic from the Jiangsu province of China. The platform was donated by an old Volkswagen Santana sedan, and the engine came from a Nissan van.
The body is like the best interpretation of a Reventon, and there are obvious differences in the nose, which is more like the Aventador’s in some places. But it’s refreshing to see just how well the Chinese man replicated the spirit of the brand. It show the a Lamborghini is something primal and elemental.
Lamborghini, this guy deserves a joyride in a real Lambo. He’s your biggest fan!
