When Cadillac called themselves ‘the standard of the world’, they surely didn’t envision themselves making cars in China, in the future. Yet, here they are, with the all-new China-made XTS, which they will debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show, in November.
The production-ready version of the car has recently been spotted, in white. The car looks exactly the same as its US counterpart, yet it features Chinese writing on the right of the bootlid, which translate into Shanghai-GM, the joint venture that makes the XTS for the PRC.

It is Cadillac’s answer to the Audi A6L, BMW 5-Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class or the Volvo S80, all of which are very well-liked in China, so it may be hard for the XTS to get the sales its manufacturer is banking on. It will feature two powerplants, also found in the ATS: the 2.0-liter 265 hp unit, sourced from Opel, as well as a 304 hp 3.6-liter V6 unit.

Its price will range from 400,000 to 600,000 yuan (€49,100 to €73,600), which puts it on par with its German rivals, which, if the smaller ATS is anything to go by, it will match and even possibly surpass in some areas, so it will be interesting to check back a few months after its launch, to see how it did.
