Believe it or not, some people out there can create some amazing piece of heavy transportation. And Chinese craftsmen are something else. It’s a story worthy of Hollywood movies scripts to be honest. Du Hiutang of Yuling, Shaanxi province grew up with a great love for military machinery. Since his family couldn't afford his tuition, he had to drop out of high school to work on the family farm.

However, you know how they say that no matter how much you try to avoid your inner call if you intended to do something it will eventually happen in a way or another.

Even though he never studied the industry in a proper way, he did stay up to date with all the information he could get from military and naval magazines. Years of reading about the latest trends and designs helped the farmer teach himself the basics.

His passion for heavy water crafts culminated with a moment from 1992, when Russia agreed to sell China an outdated submarine for an enormous sum. It caused a lot of rage to the self-taught craftsman who decided to prove the Chinese people can make one themselves.

Years and 500,000 yuan ($81,529) later, Du has almost completed his gray submarine. Unfortunately, he got to the point where there are no more people to borrow money from. Since he also spent all of his life savings the farmer is currently looking for funding.

According to Shanghaiist, Du is now desperately looking for a partner to put up the money that will allow his submarine to take its first dive. He’s even willing to offer patented plans, stock shares, and underwater joyrides for anyone interested.

Since we’re not quite clear if there’s any crowdfunding community similar to Kickstarter in China other than Demohour, we’re guessing he should try asking for help on that one. But really, how cool is his story, right?
