Chinese Craftsman Builds Weird Helicopter Car: It Doesn’t Fly

There’s a new generation of drivers that emerged in China, and we’re not talking about medium class sportscar owners. We’re also not referring to the flashy new rich or tuhao how they call them. In fact, we’re pointing towards a class of craftsmen, a generation of gifted mechanics that create their own vehicles from scratch. The best part is that most of them are not even professionals, but farmers.

The creator of this peculiar wheeled device is, in fact, a retired engineer from Zhengzhou, Henan province. The man has spent the last five years building this replica of a helicopter, that rather looks like some Propeller Beanie to be honest. Nevertheless, the man did everything to make this puppy drive like any other street-legal car while still looking similar to some an aircraft.

Named the Chinese Dream, the machine is the result of a little bit of determination, some hard work and a lot of wood. As far as we can tell from the pictures, the entire back chamber is the size of a small trailer. It resembles a mountain cabin or some sort of a sauna. The vehicle itself might look a bit more like a regular hand-made toy, but apparently this vehicle is a computer-controlled car that even comes with a functional AC system.

Specs are impressive themselves, as the helicopter ride is 12.5 meters (41 feet) long, 2.8 meter (9.1 feet) high and able to reach a top speed of 75 km/h (46 mph). According to Shanghaiist, the craftsman is planning to cruise the country along his wife with this puppy in the near future, so he’s obviously trusting his engineer skills. We say good for him, we like people who take things to their matter.

Editor's note: comparing this peculiar creation with the several copycats we saw in Shanghai, at least this one is original
