With only little time left until the Beijing Olympic Games, China already set into motion the impressive, custom-built train is designed specifically for this huge event. Blending various cutting-edge technologies, this unique train will surely impress everyone attending the Winter Games.
China started construction work on the dedicated railway connecting the major Olympic Games hubs back in 2018, Insider reports. Now, it was time for the Fuxing bullet train to make its first journey on this route. Linking Beijing to various Olympics-related venues in Zhangjiakou, this railway is part of the country’s plan, in the context of the current pandemic, to create a “closed-loop bubble” for all the athletes, officials, and journalists involved in the event.

But this is not a regular bullet train. First of all, it’s driverless, using fully-autonomous driving systems, at a remarkable 217 mph (350 kph) speed. This will allow it to carry its 564 passengers from Beijing’s downtown to Zhangjiakou in just 50 minutes, compared to the three hours it would normally take to get there.

Next, the Fuxing will boast the world’s first 5G ultra-HD mobile studio, a unique, fully-equipped media room with 5G and 4k technologies that will allow journalists to broadcast while traveling onboard the custom train. Even the train’s design, and interior features, have been customized for the event, and its performance is matched by eco-friendly features. Officials told the state-related Global Link that the sleek locomotive design helps cut around 10% of energy consumption, in addition to several other sustainable materials and features.

A glimpse inside this special train reveals a luxurious interior, integrating other special features, such as wheelchair-accessible spaces, and custom lockers for ski gear. Everything inside the Fuxing seems to match its high-tech character.

Although the Beijing Olympic Games won’t kick off until February, the custom-built train is already warming up and recently made its debut on the tracks, showing off both its remarkable performance, and luxurious design.
