The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) has just tested a new batch of child bolster seats, with the results showing just how great the differences between the various models can be.
Bolster seats are destined for children over the age of four, who no longer fit inside a forward-facing child seat. These seats help the children reach the correct height so that the seatbelt becomes effective.

We have to talk about the Fit Rating, which shows how well the seats can accommodate the children over the variety of cars available on the market. The IIHS tested 31 new booster seat model, but only 19 of these received the Best Bet rating, the top one available. One of the seats got the Good Fit rating, while the remaining 11 only received the Check Fit score.

If you happen to use a child seat with a Check Fit score, you should install this in your car and make sure that the belt touches the child’s chest and abdomen, not other areas of the body.
