Chevy Volt Surpasses Nissan Leaf Sales for Fifth Consecutive Month

It is clear that the Chevy Volt is a more appealing car for customers looking to ‘go green’, thanks mainly to its range extender engine which eliminates the dreaded range anxiety, common amongst pure EV drivers.

This is also very clearly reflected in the US sales records, which point to the Volt as the overall favorite in the category, after having sold no fewer than 1,760 units in June, while the car’s main rival, the Nissan Leaf only managed 535 sales.

So far in the year, the total sales figure for the Volt is going great and is rapidly approaching the 9,000 mark (currently at 8,817 units). This means that the car’s sales have increased considerably, surpassing last year’s entire sales figure by 1,100 units already, so everything is on track for the Volt.

However, don’t count the Leaf out just yet, as its sales are bound to pick up once US production of the car starts, later this year. Currently totaling 3,148 units sold, it represents a 19% decrease when compared to last year’s numbers, so the Volt has clearly stolen many of its customers.
