Chevy Volt Approaching 100-Million Miles Driven - Two Thirds On Battery Power Alone!

The Chevrolet Volt has officially taken off. Sales are going well and its customers, including the likes of Jay Leno and Bob Lutz are very pleased with their Volts. The total number of miles covered is steadily rising and it will reach 100-million miles (160-million km).

This has brought about some very important data. It seems that the Volt’s owners have really been using their car to their full capacity, using gasoline to power it only when absolutely necessary. Thus, over two thirds of the entire distance covered so far has been covered without burning a single drop of gasoline - one who fails to be impressed by that needs a fact check!

This, according to green.autoblog.com, means that some 12.5-million liters (3.32-million US gallons) of gasoline have not been burnt. This means that around $10 (€8.2) -million have not been pocketed by the world’s oil companies and thus seem to have genuinely helped humanity in its plight to renounce the black stuff. This is the kind of news we like to see and pass on, as it just gives everybody a more positive outlook on life - good news is getting rarer by the day.
