Chevy Tech at SXSW Film and Music Fest

The current year will be a very busy one for American auto maker Chevrolet from an exposure point of view, because of the models which will be more then present in 2011's movies and songs. Only natural, Chevy renewed this year its commitment to the South by Southwest (SXSW) film and music festival and it plans to use the event to its full extent to showcase its latest technologies.

The Austin Convention Center, where the event will take place between March 11 and 20, will be packed with Chevy's and OnStar's infotainment systems, starting with the MyLink and ending with the future of connected vehicles as seen by OnStar.

The MyLink system debuted on the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid and comes as a next generation entertainment and infotainment system. By using it, the owner of a MyLink enabled vehicle will benefit from one of the following features:
  • hands-free voice control system powered by Nuance (simple voice commands initiate phone calls and select radio stations or media from portable MP3 players and smartphones
  • Pandora internet radio and Stitcher SmartRadio
  • Gracenote allows users to access music using artist nicknames
  • upgraded USB connectivity

“South by Southwest is a perfect backdrop to introduce people to Chevrolet MyLink,”
said Chris Perry, GM vice president, US marketing.

“Like South by Southwest itself, MyLink is the ultimate combination of music and technology. The festival also offers an opportunity for Chevrolet and OnStar to evaluate new technologies that may soon help Chevrolet drivers safely stay connected while behind the behind the wheel.”
