Like the Fiat 500e, the Chevrolet Spark EV was built in order to meet California emissions laws. But you'd be mistaken for thinking they put it together not because they had to but because they wanted to.
The Spark EV received positive reviews from Consumer Reports, who tested the car before it went on sale. Not surprisingly, the 130 horsepower electric motor is a lot more fun than the 1.2-liter four-cylinder offered with in the conventional version of the car.
As such, the little go-kart is a hoot to drive, but being aggressive with the pedals means your range will drop. Both the suspension and cabin noise are better than in the regular car, but charging takes too long, according to Consumer Reports.
Standard kit includes internet radio, Pandora, MyLing, power windows and available heated seats, the EV is better equipped than most of the cars in its class. But that's not surprising considering what you pay for it.
