Even though it's not a top seller and doesn't have a TRX-rivalling supercharged powertrain yet, we still think the 2021 Silverado is very cool. In fact, it's one of Chevy's best current designs. But it can't hold a candle to the boxy simplicity of the C10.
Nostalgia is a big factor in the car/truck-loving community. Thoughts like "things were simpler back then" or "I kissed my future wife in a truck like that" come flooding in, and you just can't help but enjoy those classics. The Chevy C10 was boxy just because that was the cheaper, more practical way to make vehicles back then. But simplicity and affordability are always attractive features.

It's not uncommon for Chevy to look into the past for inspiration, but this hasn't happened in many years, unfortunately. This is a rendering, a private concept which tries to put a retro spin on the modern Silverado. Wb.artist20 and his Sketchbook iPad brush set have created a modern "Square Body," which is the nickname of the vintage truck at the top of the first photo.

It's quite difficult to explain what's going on because three trucks appear to have joined forces here. You've got a few elements from the current generation, and yes, they do make a 2-door version. Meanwhile, the front end features four rectangles for headlights. But why is the rest of it so sporty?

Well, it's because the inspiration for this digital project came from a concept called the 2014 Chevy Silverado Cheyenne. No, not the Cayenne. It was presented at the 2013 SEMA show, a kind of spiritual successor to hot-rod trucks like the GMC Syclone, which should have been put into production as the rival to Ford's F-150 Tremor of that time. The deep bumper has been carried over to this rendering, along with those massive wheels and lowered suspension.

The Cheyenne also featured high-tech parts, such as the Z/28 Camaro's brakes, side skirts, and a 6.2-liter V8 with custom exhaust. Can we just admit that lowered trucks are better for racing than lifted ones?
