American manufacturer Chevrolet confirmed today its involvement with the world’s largest one-day automotive event, the Woodward Dream Cruise, after the first rumors surrounding its sponsorship of the event surfaced earlier in the week.
As it celebrates its 100th anniversary, Chevrolet plans to make an unforgettable appearance at the August 20 event, the first in a series of three, as the agreement between the car maker and the organizers of the Dream Cruise have struck a deal for the following three years.
“Chevrolet has always had a strong presence as part of the Woodward Dream Cruise, and we’re honored to have them become the presenting sponsor of the event,” said Greg Rassel, president of the Woodward Dream Cruise. “We are looking forward to what lies ahead for the Dream Cruise, as this partnership will help the growth of our event over the next several years.”
As part of the show, a few Chevy highlights are meant to impress the 1.5 million car enthusiasts expected to take part. Among them, historic Chevrolets owned and driven by fans, employees, and retirees, a show of the current models, a presentation of future models (including the Sonic and the ZL1 Camaro) and performance vehicles and the first participation of the Volt PHEV in the event (making this the first time a big number of electric vehicles take part in the Cruise).
“Chevrolet and the Woodward Dream Cruise are a natural partnership,” said Rick Scheidt, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. “Chevrolet, as a global brand, is celebrating its centennial with locally focused events that recognize the passion people have for their Chevrolets.”
