We really love one-make series and everything connected to this type of motorsport and we will now take a virtual trip to the UK, where Avon Tyres has been selected as a tire supplier for the Chevron GR8 Championship, a one-make series that uses 256 hp racers produced by the Chesire-based sportscar manufacturer.
The GR8 Championship will take racers across the UK, allowing them to enjoy a multitude of famour racetracks, including Pembrey, Silverstone, Oulton Park, Anglesey, Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Mallory Park, allowing them to show their skill to the world.
The series will consist of 14 rounds, each with a duration of 40 minutes, with an obligatory stop to change drivers. The tires used will be the same as those used in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, with only minor car modifications being required to compete in both championships - competitors get improved value for money.
Chevron has also confirmed that it will compete in the GTC Class of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this year, with the driver line-up including Anthony Reid and Jordan Witt.
“We chose Avon because they offered the best combination of performance and value, which is what our competitors are looking for from both Chevron and our suppliers. The fact that the same tyre will be used for the GR8 Championship and British GTs makes it even easier for GR8 owners to race more than 20 times a season in the two championships,” said Helen Bashford-Malkie, Managing Director of Chevron Racing Cars.
