Chevrolet Volt Markets to Be Announced at LA Auto Show

Chevrolet is going to announce its retail plans for the future Volt model during the LA Auto Show. Mass production of this model is expected to start in the fall of 2010 at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. Its battery packs will be built at the Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant south of Detroit.

"With expected highway fuel economy up to 40 miles per gallon, Cruze will be extremely gas friendly while the Volt electric vehicle can be operated gas-free," said Brent Dewar, vice president, Chevrolet.

"Chevrolet's focus is on forward-looking technologies to the benefit of our customers, such as the highly efficient, small-displacement turbocharged engine in the Cruze or the Volt electric vehicle with extended range," he added.

The pricing has not yet been announced, but we are certain that GM is continuing road-testing under extreme heat and height, such as Death Valley, California and Pike's Peak, Colorado. Compact Power Inc. According to GM, 80 pre-production vehicles and 300 battery packs have been produced.

If you’re thinking that things are running late with the Volt, due to all the problems General Motors has had over the past year, you’re wrong. “This is just as we planned,” said chief engineer Andrew Farah. “We're on schedule to start regular production of the Chevrolet Volt almost exactly one year from now -- late 2010. And we're on time because we are confident with the various program development tests we've been conducting this year.
