It’s been less than 24 hours since a report from GM Authority claimed the next-gen Corvette Z06 will be launched under the same name instead of the recently rumored Z07 moniker, and Chevrolet just kicked in to confirmed that the high-performance Vette will keep its Z06 badges.
Additionally, General Motors confirmed that the Corvette Z06 will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January and sold for the 2015 model year, with production to begin in late 2014. No other details have been revealed, but Chevy says the new Z06 “will be the most track-capable Corvette ever, designed to deliver supercar levels of performance through unique powertrain, chassis and aerodynamic features.”
As we’ve previously reported, the 2015 Corvette Z06 is expected to be powered by an updated 6.2-liter V8 engine that will deliver at least 600 horsepower via a Tremec TR-6070 seven-speed manual transmission. New details on the new Z06 will most likely surface early next month.
