Like being suspended by NASCAR two days before the Association’s biggest racing event was about to kick off wasn’t enough already, Chevrolet has today officially announced they are taking their hands of Kurt Busch because of the domestic violence scandal. Meanwhile, the driver lost his final NASCAR appeal Saturday night to get his indefinite suspension rescinded prior to the Daytona 500.
The winner of the 25 Cup races and the 2004 championship is facing some pretty serious problems lately after a judge recently ruled he almost surely choked and beat a former girlfriend last fall. The latest of the line of bad news comes from Chevrolet themselves who have officially announced they are suspending their relationship with the driver indefinitely.

Last November it was announced that Busch was being investigated over domestic assault for an incident that happened two months earlier in Dover, Delaware. It appears Busch beat his ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll inside a motorhome at Dover International Speedway. A week ago, the 36-year old NASCAR racer was given a no-contact order by a Dover judge.

Chevrolet has suspended its relationship with Kurt Busch indefinitely. We will continue to monitor the events surrounding Mr. Busch and are prepared to take additional action if necessary,” Jim Campbell, Chevrolet vice president of Motorsports and Performance Vehicles said today.

Before he got suspended, Kurt competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, driving the No. 41 Haas Automation/ State Water Heaters Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing. It was quite normal for the American car maker to take away their support, but the fact they made an official announcement proves that GM is very careful not to affect their public image more than it already was.

We’re obviously referring to GM’s massive recall which now counts for a total of 30,433,365 cars globally.
