Chevrolet aired two commercial during the Super Bowl XLVIII. The “Romance” ad for the 2015 Chevrolet Slverado HD, which was released last week, and the more emotional “Life” spot that highlights World Cancer Day and celebrates cancer survivors.
The 60-second video show a young couple driving a Silverado truck, while the female passenger, a cancer survivor, looks out the window at the sunrise, smiles and clasps the hand of her male companion. The ad encourages viewer to change their Facebook and Twitter profiles to purple, the official color of cancer survival.
Through it s Purple Roads initiative, Chevrolet will donate $1 per each profile (up to $1 million) to the American Cancer Society to aid cancer patients in need of transportation to and from cancer treatment or a place to stay while receiving treatment away from home.
“With estimates that more than 100 million watched today’s game, we could achieve our goal with just 1 percent participation,” said Tim Mahoney, Chevrolet’s global chief marketing officer. “Most of us, including many of our employees, have been touched by cancer in some way and this spot celebrates cancer survivors and those who support them.”
