The Chevrolet Spark is a mini-car which is currently sold by GM in over 100 markets around the world. It is badged as Chevrolet, Holden and even as a Daewoo (for the South Korean market). It will make its US debut “later this year”, according to the official press release, and it will try to win back some of the US city car market.
The Spark is based on the 2007 Chevrolet Beat concept and it is basically a toned down version of that car, as it retains most of its design cues. It is also not a bad looking piece of design, and it is clearly a big step forward from the Matiz it replaces. The US-bound version get special features such as Hill Hold Assist, Panic Brake Assist as standard (apparently), as well as Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system, Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Styling-wise, the car is expected to receive a minor facelift prior to its launch, as well as more powerful engines than those with which it is sold in other market.

It will be aimed at city-dwelling young people on a budget, as VP fo Chevrolet Global Marketing, Chris Perry says: “We listened to what young people said they wanted in a car. Our engineers tuned and equipped the Chevrolet Spark specifically for first-time buyers and city dwellers in North America [...] Spark is the perfect urban car because we’ve made it easy to drive, easy to park and easy to own.”
