Chevrolet has just revealed a teaser for a racing version of their Sonic (Aveo in Europe) hatchback. It is not an actual, official racing car, but rather it previews a kit which will be made available to Sonic owners who want to convert their car for racing purposes.
The B-Spec kit (live photos here) includes new suspension components, with adjustable stabilizer bars, 15-inch rims fitted with racing rubber, carbon fiber racing seat, competition-spec roll cage, five-point safety harness, quick-release steering wheel and window safety net. The engine remains unchanged, so it`s the stock 1.8-liter unit, fitted with an air restrictor, driving the front wheels through a manual five-cog gearbox.
The kit comes courtesy of Chevrolet Performance, and it will be made available to the public in the first part of next year. No pricing or additional details have been announced yet, but the idea behind the kit is straightforward so there isn`t really that much more which can be said about it.
