Chevrolet Reveals First 2013 Malibu Interior Image

At the end of last month, Chevrolet released the first teaser image of the 2013 Malibu, showing just a little section of the rear, including the stop lights. Based on the fact that the image included the number 009 in its title, we guessed that the carmaker already had a number of little teasers to keep us busy until the big reveal.

It seems that this is indeed the case, as the American carmaker has just shown us a the first glimpse of the interior. We get to see the new center console that is dominated by a large LCD screen. The color of all the buttons and knobs looks very futuristic and the lines of the dash flow very nicely. Unfortunately, the instruments cluster has been blurred out, but it looks like it takes inspiration from the Camaro by using the same separate gauges for the rev counter and speedometer.

Chevrolet has just enough time for another teaser of the 2013 Malibu before the full reveal on April 18th, so we expect to see something of the front end or the grille.

The new Malibu will not just be an important car for the American market, as it has been designed as a global product. It will be sold in some 100 countries around the world, with a number of configurations to provide to various customer needs. GM says it will be built not just at US manufacturing plants, but also at locations in other countries.

Unfortunately, we can’t tell you much about the powertrains on offer, but you can expect GM’s current 2.0-liter and 2.4-liter four-cylinder units to be found under the hood. We could also see a hybrid variant that makes use of the eAssist technology, which can be found on certain Buick models.
