General Motors' research and development focus may be currently channeled at the future Cadillac CT6 flagship sedan and all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, but GM found the time to also prepare five performance-inspired concepts for the SEMA show in November. These cars may not be as special as most of us would have expected from SEMA-bound concepts, but they're not exactly bad either.
For the 2015 model year, Chevrolet has reinvigorated most of its passenger car lineup, even though most updates come in the form of the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system and the OnStar 4G LTE feature. But still, it's very interesting to see the manufacturer have a go at modifying its current range of vehicles.

The following concepts feature parts designed to allow personalization while maintaining the vehicle's factory appearance. Engineers developed most of the accessories shown, but some components have been borrowed from Chevy's accessories line, while other bits are being evaluated for production.

Chevrolet SS Sport Concept

On any given day, this V8-powered performance four-door sedan is a badge engineered version of the Australian Holden Commodore VF, featuring slightly different styling in factory guise. But this concept car's makeover takes it one step further and boasts with a handful of unique or already available components.

Complementing the LS3 V8's 415 ponies and 415 lb-ft (563 Nm) of torque, as well as the new six-speed manual and the standard Magnetic Ride Control suspension, the 2015 model year Chevrolet SS in Sport Concept flavor adds an enhanced Some Like It Red Hot exterior finish, stripes for the hood and deck lid, 20-inch high-gloss black alloy wheels, as well as a sport pedal kit and other minor visual enhancements.

Chevrolet Impala Blackout Concept

For the 2015 model year, the Chevrolet Impala is a lil' bit better in a lot of ways, but the Blackout Concept is adding some neatness over the standard Impala. As such, the Blackout builds on the car’s acclaimed styling with blacked-out cues that lend it a sinister attitude. But the great thing about it is that it was all accomplished with paint and accessories from Chevy.

Just to name a few highlight features of this bad boy, we'll mention the black grille surround, rear spoiler, painted mirror caps and 19-inch aluminum wheels. As for the cabin makeover, the moment you step inside you'll be met by custom trim plates with a wire mesh pattern, stainless steel sills, a sport pedal kit and a thumpin' great 11-speaker Bose Centerpoint audio system.

In terms of firepower, the Impala Blackout Concept is boasting with the most powerful naturally aspirated V6 engine in the segment, a 3.6-liter powerplant with 305 horsepower and 264 lb-ft (358 Nm) of torque.

Chevrolet Cruze RS Plus Concept

The golden bowtie automaker's entry in the small car segment is Chevy's best-selling car worldwide, with more than 3 million examples sold since mid-2010. With the 2015 Cruze, Chevrolet revised the exterior aesthetics, enhanced the cabin and added tech such as Siri, Text Message Alerts and OnStar 4G LTE.

Aside from the Wildfire Metallic exterior finish, the Cruze RS Plus Concept comes with an unique front fascia, rocker moldings, as well as a new spoiler and fog lamps. Furthermore, a new instrument cluster design includes chrome rings in place of the standard silver finish, together with opaque cluster bezels that allow the backlighting to shine through at night.

Chevrolet Sonic Accessories Concept and Sonic Performance Concept

The fourth and fifth SEMA candidates unfortunately don't come in the form of a 2015 Camaro or Corvette, but two distinctive takes on the Sonic subcompact car we all know and love. The Performance Concept has been spruced up with a Chevrolet Performance Stage Kit, which adds cold-air induction and a high-flow exhaust system to the 1.4-liter turbo four-pot. Underneath that Synergy Green finish, you'll also find a track-tuned, lowered suspension system developed by the Chevrolet Performance.

Last but not least, the Sonic Accessories Concept is finished in Summit White and further beautified by an offset matte black stripe. As its name implies, the oily bits were left untouched. Aside from the special paint job, a suite of minor touches round off this concept nicely, out of which the highlights come in the form of white headlamp and tail lamp rings, a black spoiler and grille surround and 17-inch wheels.
