US automaker Chevrolet announced its 10th consecutive quarter of record global sales reporting 1.18 million vehicles sold worldwide in the first quarter of 2013.
The “Bow-Tie” company sold most of its cars in the US in 2013, with American customers buying 469,000 Chevrolets, which translates into a gain of 4.8 percent. As predicted, China and Brazil took second and third place in the company’s top markets in 2013 with 165,000 and 141,000 vehicles respectively.
“Chevrolet is growing around the world by leveraging GM’s global engineering and design expertise to deliver the right products in the right markets,” said Mark Reuss, GM president of North America. “And because a product like the Cruze has been developed for different markets with a wide variety of consumer needs, we have the flexibility to offer more performance and capability options – like the Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel model that will be launching in the U.S. later this year.”
Chevrolet predicts sales will continue to grow within the year, as the company is getting ready to introduce the all-new Corvette Stingray, Impala, Silverado, Spin, Trax and Colorado models in either the US or the emerging markets.
In other related news, the Chevrolet Cruze surprassed the 2 million mark in total global sales since its launch in 2009.
