The 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is as hardcore as they come, no doubt about that, but a special edition never killed anybody, right?
Following the same judgement, Chevy introduced the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition. Those of you familiar with the golden bowtie carmaker's motorsports activity will no doubt skip a beat upon seeing this road-going but also track-capable version coming to life.

And that's a perfectly natural and understandable reaction since only 500 C7.R cars will be made. But hey, good things usually come to those who wait, and also in small batches.

By good things, we mean the following: each Corvette Z06 C7.R model will include the Z07 Performance Package with carbon ceramic brakes and a unique vehicle identification number stamped on the chassis. Hold your horses though, as you'll only be able to buy one later this year.

The brakes are provided by Brembo and come with ceramic-matrix brake rotors for improved braking and handling due to reduced un-sprung weight. In addition, the Z07 package offers aerodynamic exterior parts that can be adjusted for maximum efficiency.

“Combined with the 650-horsepower supercharged LT4 engine, true aerodynamic downforce and performance technologies such as Magnetic Ride Control, Performance Traction Management and an electronic limited slip differential, the Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition offers capability matched only by an elite fraternity of the world’s supercars and special-edition exclusivity that is sure to make it an instant collector’s item,” explained Harlan Charles, Corvette product and marketing manager.

The visual compartment is not neglected by Chevy, as the C7.R Edition sports yellow-painted brake callipers, black wheels with yellow accent strip and Corvette Racing-logo center caps and a visible carbon fiber hood section.

Step inside and you'll be greeted by yellow contrast stitching, carbon fiber trim and a C7.R Edition interior plaque showing the build number, starting with VIN 700001.
