Chevrolet Drives Forward GM's Sales

Chevrolet is indeed a core brand for the American car giant and continues to drive the company's total sales forward in every single market. In the UK for example, Chevrolet's sales grew up by 17.84 percent in April over the figures of the same month in 2008, with Matiz, Aveo and Captiva exceeding expectations, as the manufacturer said in a statement.

“With Captiva, we’ve seen customers trading in much more expensive types of vehicle,” said Chevrolet Managing Director, Mark Terry. “We’ve seen BMW X5s, Land Rover Discoverys and even several executive saloon cars traded in against Captivas, as customers realize they can still buy a luxuriously equipped vehicle with an impressive name and a bold heritage, but at a great value price.”

"What would be the reason for such a strong growth?" you might ask yourselves. Well, just think that according to the recently-launched government scheme for customers who agree to trade in a car that is more than 10 years old, Chevy's Matiz will be available at a price of no less than 4,295 pounds. This means this particular model has become the cheapest new car in the United Kingdom, according to General Motors.

“It seems that right now, everybody is thinking about what they’re spending their money on, and when it comes to major purchases they’re adopting a more rational approach,”
he added.

“If they’re buying a car they’re looking at the one that gives them the most for their money, no matter how much they’ve got to spend, and that’s when they realize just how much value for money there is if they choose a Chevrolet.”
