Chevrolet Cruze Sedan Launched in India

General Motors rolled out the new Chevrolet Cruze in India, with the car to be offered in two versions, LT and LTZ, with six colors available throughout the range.

The car excels in safety, after achieving the maximum five-star rating in the China New Car Assessment Program (CNCAP) rating. Furthermore, the Australian Holden Cruze, a rebadged version of the Cruze sold Down Under, received the five-star Australiasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) rating.

"Chevrolet has become a driving force in India's vehicle market," said Karl Slym, President and Managing Director, GM India. "The Cruze has been receiving rave reviews since its recent debut in some other markets. The auto Journalists in India who had test driven the vehicle for their technical auto magazines and previews on TV channels have rated it as the best in its segment for its unique product attributes. It builds on the reputation of the brand for attractive design, great performance and outstanding fuel economy in the D-segment. We expect it to perform well against established D-segment players."

The Chevrolet Cruze range comprises three different powerplants, 1.6-, 1.8-liter and 1.6-liter turbocharged. The turbo engine generates a maximum power of 180 hp and 230 Nm of torque between 1,980 and 5,500 rpm, according to figures provided by General Motors.

In the United Kingdom, however, Chevrolet Cruze has a base price of 11,545 pounds and is offered with a total of four engine configurations, with the lowest version developing 113 horsepower.
