Chevrolet Captiva Automatic+ Launched in India

General Motors India unveiled the new Chevrolet Captiva Automatic+, a premium sport utility vehicle featuring an automatic transmission unit particularly focused on fuel economy and ease of driving. In addition,, the SUV is also equipped with Chevrolet's Adaptive All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) that also includes several functions such as Descent Control System (DCS) and Traction Control System.

“The Captiva has been a runaway success since its launch last year, and has won a series of prestigious awards such as Business Standard Motoring's Import Car of the Year award, UTVi-Autocar India's Best SUV award and CNBC-Overdrive's SUV of the Year award. The new Chevrolet Captiva Automatic+ brings superlative comfort and ease of driving, combined with unbeatable value, safety, security and luxury to our customers. This is in line with General Motors' commitment to provide best-in-class products and services to our customers in India,” President and Managing Director, Karl Slym, said.

The new Captiva is powered by a variable geometry common rail direction injection (VCDi) diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 150 PS combined with a torque of 320 Nm. This makes the car one of the most powerful and frugal SUVs in its segment, General Motors India proudly said in a press statement.

Chevrolet's upgraded model excels in safety as the engineers were particularly focused on this area, according to the parent company GM. Driver and front passenger airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, and height-adjustable front seatbelts are available as standard.

The manual transmission version of Chevrolet Captiva was officially introduced on the Indian market in January 2008 and since then, the company has sold more than 2,300 units across the country. This means Captiva is one of the most popular SUVs in the country, General Motors continued to praise its model.
