Chevrolet Camaro "Super Wagon" Looks Like the Family Muscle We Want

The Chevrolet Camaro is in trouble on multiple fronts these days (more on that below), but do you know who hasn't stopped showing love to this American icon? Digital artists. These creators of the virtual universe ensure the muscle car stays under the spotlights with the help of captivating renderings such as the one that currently sits on our screens.
The Camaro hasn't just been lagging behind the Mustang in terms of sales but has also been outmuscled (pun intended) by the aging Challenger.

And the fact that California and Washington are banning sales of the Camaro SS, 1LE, and ZL1 for 2021 due to their brake pads not meeting state legislation certainly won't help. The performance stopping hardware contains more copper than the legislation allows and GM won't be able to come up with a solution until the 2022 model year, although examples currently on dealer lots are still eligible for sale.

Well, the two aspects mentioned above obviously add fuel to the fire started by the rumors talking about General Motors wishing to retire the Camaro badge altogether after the 2022 or 2023 model year. Speculation on what comes next is wild, with this ranging from an all-electric sportscar to a crossover that would rival the Mustang Mach-E. There hasn't been much talk about the good old V8 surviving, though.

On a more positive note, this rendering portrays the kind of sixth-generation Camaro build we'd love to see in the real world. This sporty wagon, which can be labeled as a shooting brake, showcases a solution that would allow the whole family to enjoy the spirit of the vehicle rather than, say, use an SUV.

The front fascia comes from the pre-2019 Camaro SS since the 2019 revamp doesn't do the model justice on a visual level, while the emergency 2020 facelift that followed is still not the sharpest. And while the front splitter shows the presence of the 1LE track-friendly package, those dive planes are borrowed from the 1LE incarnation of the range-topping Camaro ZL1 (you know, the Nürburgring tamer).

As for the rest of the contraption, this is obviously the current Audi RS6 Avant, albeit with the rear doors having been lost in translation - hey, those massive fenders now shine even more. And if you think this is strange, we'll remind that we're talking about the generation that marked the North American return of the RS6.

Camm Fisher, the digital wizard behind the work, doesn't show us additional angles of the contraption, but this should be enought to get muscle enthusiasts on board.
