It’s that time of the year, ladies and gents! Following the reveal of the mid-cycle refresh for the Nissan Titan, the State Fair of Texas welcomes to special editions of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. In truth, however, the Midnight and Rally are nothing more than optional packages.
Going on sale in October 2019, the Midnight and Rally level up the exterior design of the light-duty pickup. “Whether at auto shows, local car shows or on the road, people turn their heads when they see our special edition trucks,” said marketing manager Mark Sobczynski.

First things first, let’s start with the Rally Edition that’s a street-focused pickup instead of an overlander. Available on the Custom and RST, the Silverado 1500 Rally can be optioned in Summit White, Silver Ice Metallic, Red Hot, or Black with body-colored grille, black stripes on the tailgate and hood, black tailgate lettering, badging, bowties, exhaust tips, and assist steps.

20-inch wheels painted in… wait for it… black are also featured, and the RST-based Rally Edition levels up to 22 inchers from the get-go. The 2.7-liter Tripower turbo four-cylinder comes standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission while the RST can be specified with the 5.3- or 6.2-liter V8 at an additional cost. Only the largest of the three engines is mated to the 10-speed automatic tranny co-developed with the Ford Motor Company.

The Midnight Edition is the off-road counterpart, available as an add-on for the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trim levels. A 2.0-inch suspension lift opens the list of modifications along with the Rancho mono-tube shock absorbers of the Z71 Off-Road Package, an automatic locking differential for the rear axle, skid plates, 18-inch black wheels, and Goodyear Duratrac rubber on all four corners. Lots of black garnish is joined by red-painted recovery hooks, and the smallest engine available is the 5.3-liter small-block V8.

The 6.2-liter is an option in the case of the Custom Trail Boss Midnight Edition while the LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition comes exclusively with the largest engine. The ratings for this plant are 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and customers going for the LT Trail Boss Midnight Edition are also treated to full-curtain signature DRLs and high-intensity LED headlamps.
