These are the first official photos of the yet-to-be-unveiled Chevrolet Onix, a small hatchback designed specifically for the South American market. This highly anticipated model will have stiff competition from the VW Gol and Hyundai’s new HB20.
The Onix shares its Gamma II (think Sonic, Corsa and so on) platform with the Cobalt sedan and Spin MPV we showed you earlier this year.
The Onix will feature a 1.0-liter 78 hp on gas or 80 on ethanol motor for the LS and LT trim levels, while the range-topping LTZ will have a 1.4-liter with producing 98hp on gasoline and 106hp on ethanol. The Onix comes as standard with a manual, and next year an automatic version will be offered as well.
This is the first car of this type offered in South America with MyLink and prices are poised to start at BRL29,990 (US$14,800 or €11,300) when deliveries start next month.
