Chelsea Truck Company Tricks Out the Land Rover Defender

Renowned for its rugged capability and iconic design, the good ole Landie is about to kick the bucket by the end of 2015. Yes, ladies and gents, Land Rover will be putting an end to the off-road vehicle that put the automaker on the map 67 years ago to date. Before we wave our goodbyes, the Chelsea Truck Company had a go at perfecting this icon of ruggedness.

A brand new Land Rover Defender stars from £23,100 of your hard-earned money, but it can go all the way to £30,965 for the 130 Double Cab Pick Up. But here’s the thing - why spend all that dough on a standard Landie when the Defender 2.2 TDCI XS 110 Double Cab Pick Up Chelsea Wide Track is £34,875? After all, this is a bespoke vehicle and the modifications aren’t affecting the off-road capability of the British interloper.

The off-road arm of A. Kahn Design also offers Land Rover Defender owners the opportunity to bring in their offroaders to be tricked out Chelsea Truck Company style. That means 100 percent tailored to one’s specification. In the case of the 110 featured in the adjacent gallery, the boxy nature of the Defender is enhanced by Corris Grey paint and pumped out fenders with exposed bolt apertures for extra visual drama.

Moving on to the front fascia design, the Landie’s face boasts a more aggressive bumper with integrated daytime running lights, joined by “shadow chrome” headlights. But the thing that makes us fall in love with this thing is the X-Lander front grille, which is color matched to the bumper guard. The front end’s makeover is completed by a stainless steel hood and fender vent mesh.

9-by-20-inch Volcanic Black Mondial rims shod with 275/55/20 tires are included in the Chelsea Wide Track treatment as well, along with toughened mud flaps and crosshair exhaust tips. As for the cabin design, Sports GTB seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara are the name of the game.

Other than these lavish seats, the Corris Grey Land Rover Defender 2.2 TDCI XS 110 Double Cab Pick Up by Chelsea Truck Company also gets a Kahn billet steering wheel and a set of aluminum foot pedals.
