Be it the dual exhaust or the candy green paint, it doesn’t take much to realize that this is not your grandmother’s mobility scooter. Instead, a couple of speed freaks decided to attempt to set a new speed record for the fastest mobility scooter, so they custom built their own rig from scratch to take down the standing 82-mph record.
David Anderson and Matthew Hine from Anderson's Body Shop started with a go-kart chassis that was modified for the tighter proportions of the scooter. This included giving it a narrower track and a longer wheelbase in order to “fit into the sort of scale of a mobility scooter.” To keep its appearance as close to stock as possible, the all-aluminum body features just about everything to make this a street-legal scooter.

Powering the speedy scooter is a modified 600 cc engine borrowed from a Suzuki Bandit motorcycle. With the exception of no front brakes, this is otherwise a fully operational scooter – albeit one that tops out at triple-digit speeds.

In initial testing, the men found that their scooter was capable of hitting speeds of 107.3 mph, but after hitting the track, they managed to squeeze a few extra tenths out of the top speed over a handful of runs. Their official time slip states a final top speed 107.6 mph, which is good enough for the record, but now they have to wait to hear back from the Guinness World Records to officially lay claim to their accomplishment. Even after breaking the record, the duo went back to their pit area to further tweak the scooter in hopes of breaking the 110-mph mark.
