The ultimate Mad Max fan-experience is coming and, somehow fittingly, it also involves cars. They won’t be the monster rigs and rat rods like those featured in any of the franchise installments, but your own personal vehicle.
Friday, July 31, Los Angeles mall The Grove will be hosting a very special drive-in screening. It will be special because it will be of the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road and will feature live appearances by two of the leading stars, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult. Not just that, but both will take part in a pre-movie Q&A. What more can a fan ask?

The event will take place in the parking lot atop The Grove, with limited tickets selling for $1,000 per car with just two people inside. If you wish to bring one or two more friends, prepare to pay $350 extra for each. Surely you didn’t imagine this kind of event will come cheap.

Here is some consolation if you’re feeling bummed out about the high price: the event will also include dinner and, perhaps more importantly, all funds raised go directly to the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. The organization, which works with non-profits that promote health, education and community support to youth in Africa, will also hold a silent auction on the same occasion.

Citi, the sponsor for the event, doesn’t say what will be sold at auction, but considering the movie that’s playing and Charlize’s presence, expect some Mad Max memorabilia.

For fans itching for the Fury Road sequel, for more awesome car mods, and for Charlize fans disappointed that she’s been replaced as Furiosa, this drive-in screening of a now-classic is just the thing to keep them going. Especially if they live in the Los Angeles area.

Everyone else can pop the Blu-ray in and chill as vehicular chaos unfolds. What a lovely day.
