ChargePoint Stations Deployed in Sacramento

It's a busy week for electric vehicles charging solutions providers, as more than a handful of companies announced over the past few days different agreements, launch programs and initiatives intended to support the implementation of electric vehicles.

Coulomb, one of the biggest companies in the industry, announced today the deployment of the first of a series of ChargePoint stations to be installed in Sacramento. The installation of the stations here is part of the ChargePoint America program, which rival the EV Project set in motion by ECOtality.

“My vision is to make Sacramento the Emerald Valley – the greenest region in the country and the hub of green technology,” Kevin Johnson, the mayor of the city, explained what he plans to do with the urban area he rules over.

"A networked infrastructure that supports electric vehicles is essential to this vision. Not only will these ChargePoint stations achieve this goal but will provide employment to this region for the installation.”

The ChargePoint America will see, once it's completed, 4,600 charging stations installed in nine regions in the US. The $37 million program is mostly intended for the electric vehicles soon to be produced by American manufacturer Ford, who is handing out a free ChargePoint Networked Charging Station with the purchase of a Ford Transit Connect Electric vehicle.

“Sacramento is where standards for air quality, transportation and infrastructure are set not only for California, but for the Nation,” said Coulomb Technologies CEO Richard Lowenthal. “It is only fitting that Sacramento will be a model EV-ready city as major automakers introduce exciting new electric vehicles. “
