Chandhok Talks F1 Future with Force India

Karun Chandhok's days in Formula One may not be over. Even though the Indian racer was ousted by his team Hispania Racing F1 a few months back due to sponsorship funds running out, the former GP2 driver seems eager to secure a seat in the 2011 roster by the end of December.

According to an interview he gave Indo-Asian News Service, the 26-year old had his management contact no less than 4 teams in an effort to secure a seat for next season. Needless to say, one team with whom he is still talking is HRT. The second one is apparently Force India, while the remaining two have remained undisclosed.

I will be talking to four teams for next season's contract and yes Force India is one of them. I am in regular touch with Vijay,” said Chandhok. “I am also in talks with my present team Hispania. I hope to seal the deal by the end of December.

With all the drivers rumored to be in Force India's sight for next season, we seriously doubt that Chandhok will present any interest to the team, despite the fact that the next year's calendar includes the much-awaited Indian Grand Prix. Having an Indian driver in one's lineup will surely help, but we're positive that the last thing on Vijay Mallya's mind at the moment.

Chandhok debuted in the Great Circus with newly-entrants HRT F1 this season, but his sponsorship funds ran out by the German Grand Prix and he was replaced by Japanese driver Sakon Yamamoto. While visiting the HRT garage from time to time, his sole active connection with the Great Circus has been on the commentary booth, for BBC's Radio 5 Live.
