Since it’s been around for so long, it’s only logical that Dodge Challenger’s multitude of trims and model year changes might get confusing. Still, we can easily overlook any distraction when there is so much action.
For the foreseeable future, Mopar aficionados have sales cannon fodder to combat the age-old detractors. Sure, Dodge’s third-generation Challenger might have started its life since the 2008 model year. Yes, it is certainly the oldest pony/muscle car on the market. When compared with Ford’s Mustang and Chevy’s Camaro, of course.

But it’s also the best-selling ICE one for the entirety of 2021! We need to make that distinction now, since Mustangs can also be had as Mach-E crossover SUVs, and those sold like hot cakes as well, at least in EV terms. Anyway, here is a Challenger being taught a quarter-mile lesson, possibly in retaliation.

A quick note on the videographer’s mix-up. The great folk behind the Drag Racing and Car Stuff channel on YouTube notes this Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat as a “Redeye Super Stock.” While both are closely related to Dodge’s mighty Demon, these trims are also slightly different. Someone commented this must be a Super Stock, and we are inclined to assume the same.

As for the rivals, team General Motors was on call. The first race sees the powerful Dodge fighting off a crimson, older Corvette. No trouble at all, this time around, as the results speak for themselves: 11s flat for Challenger, a shameful 12.33s pass for Chevy. Next up, from the 0:37 mark, things do heat up after the arrival of an allegedly ProCharged Chevy Camaro.

The blue rival and the Mopar give us the most thrilling encounter of the video embedded below, as the ‘Maro narrowly snatches the win after another flat 11-second pass... against a 10.98s ET! Time for the modern Challenger to give an old-school representative a night to remember afterward, securing yet another victory with an improved 10.89s pass against a 12.31s run.

Not bad, but still not enough to counter the C7 Corvette from the 1:23 mark: the Mopar’s 10.91s run is beaten by a Chevy with a more obvious 10.85s pass. Well, better luck next time.
